Planning a Web-Based Lesson Strategy Our goal for this workshop will be to continue developing the skills necessary for designing a WebQuest- a web based strategy for structuring student work using the resources available on the world wide web. During this workshop we will explore the characteristics of a strong WebQuest lesson and how they might be adapted to Project NATION and Project SPACE. We will work individually or in small groups to develop the components of a specific WebQuest; one that is suitable for your class and which incorporates student oriented, web-based resources that will enrich the technology-based learning experience you provide for your students. Agenda 2:30-3:00 pm: Introduction to WebQuest. We'll look at examples of WebQuests designed by teachers from all grade levels and disciplines. Using the homework assignment: A WebQuest About WebQuests, we'll make some judgments about the characteristics of effective WebQuest lesson strategies. 3:00-4:15 pm: WebQuest Design: Developing the skills necessary to implement a WebQuest We'll use a WebQuest "design template" to design and create a web page that will allow you to make your WebQuest available on the World Wide Web. As you proceed with your work you might want to consult the "help sheet" as a reminder of how to perform certain tasks. 4:15-4:30 pm: Planning Next Steps Use the Project Idea Planning Sheet to both sharpen your ideas and share your Project plan with us at ILT. We'll refer to your plan as we come to PS 128 for our in-school visits (see Sign-Up Schedule) 4:30 pm: Adjourn
