The Academy of American Studies is a small public High School in its second year with a projected 4 year enrollment of 500 students. Our school was inspired by a belief that young people must acquire insight and knowledge into America's past if they are to function effectively as thoughtful and involved citizens. We further believe that high teacher expectations, and an emphasis on student effort within the framework of a small, supportive learning environment will help students to achieve academic success in both high school and college. Our school is fortunate to have the support of the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, and the Center for Educational Innovation. Trips to historical sites and guest speakers are woven into our curriculum.
