The Frederick Douglass Creative Arts Center was founded as a writers development program by Fred Hudson and Budd Schulberg in 1971. FDCAC is a non-profit arts education organization offering low-cost workshops in all creative writing genres to adults, and an after-school program for adolescents. With over a dozen writing workshops for beginning, intermediate and advanced students, FDCAC enrolls hundreds of adult students a year. Poetry, short story, novel, screen writing and feature article writing (for magazines and newspapers) are just some of the skills studied in the workshops.
